* On iOS, Screen Accountability monitors Safari only (with the Covenant Eyes Safari extension enabled). It does not monitor other browsers or apps. We strongly recommend combining with iOS Screen Time restrictions to prevent installing other browsers or deleting the app.

iOS Tips (iPhone & iPad)

iOS requires some additional configuration for the best protection:

  • Enable the Safari extension: After installing Covenant Eyes, go to Settings > Safari > Extensions and enable Covenant Eyes. This is required for Screen Accountability to work.
  • Set up Screen Time restrictions: Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions. Restrict installation of new apps and prevent deletion of Covenant Eyes. This serves as uninstall protection on iOS.
  • Disable other browsers: Remove or restrict Chrome, Firefox, and any other browsers through Screen Time. Screen Accountability only works in Safari.
  • Disable VPN deletion: Covenant Eyes uses a local VPN for filtering. Prevent VPN configuration changes through Screen Time.
  • Note: You cannot use a third-party VPN simultaneously with Covenant Eyes filtering on iOS.

Android Tips

Android provides the most comprehensive monitoring experience on mobile:

  • Full device-wide monitoring: Screen Accountability works across all apps and browsers on Android — not just the browser.
  • App name: On the Google Play Store, Covenant Eyes is listed as "Victory Shield".
  • Disable sideloading: Go to Settings > Security and ensure "Install unknown apps" is turned off for all apps to prevent bypass.
  • Use Google Family Link: For children's devices, Family Link adds another layer by controlling app installation, screen time, and device settings.
  • VPN-based filtering: Covenant Eyes uses a local VPN for filtering. You cannot use a third-party VPN at the same time.
  • Not compatible with Android Go or heavily customized Android variants.

Chromebook Tips

Chromebook support is more limited than other platforms:

  • No Screen Accountability: The AI-based screenshot monitoring feature is not available on Chromebooks.
  • Filtering available: Domain blocking, SafeSearch enforcement, YouTube Restricted Mode, and custom block/allow lists all work on Chromebook.
  • Use Google Admin Console: For schools and organizations, Chrome OS devices can be centrally managed through the Google Admin Console, which provides additional web filtering and app restrictions.
  • DNS filtering: For home Chromebooks, setting up DNS-level filtering on your router provides an additional layer of protection.

Cellular Provider Filtering

Many cellular providers offer content filtering as an additional service. This can block inappropriate content at the network level before it reaches your phone.

  • Contact your cellular provider and ask about content filtering options.
  • Some providers serving the Jewish community offer this as a standard feature.

Important: Cellular filtering only works on mobile data. When your phone connects to Wi-Fi, the cellular filter does not apply. That's why WebChaver monitoring is essential — it works on all connection types.
